The coaching staff has made some alterations to the training schedule. The players will enjoy two days off, including Ascension Day. They will report back for training at De Herdgang training centre on Friday at 10:30.


The players and fans alike were in buoyant mood.
A depleted PSV squad will take off for a short trip to Greece on Saturday morning. PSV will take on PAOK Saloniki in a friendly on Saturday night, with a 20:30 kick off. PSV met their Greek opponents twice before in European competitions. They earned a double victory (3-0 and 0-1) over the team from the north of Greece in 2000, when they reached the fourth round of the UEFA Cup tournament. One year later, PSV slipped to a 3-2 defeat in the first leg, but cancelled out the deficit in the return leg in Eindhoven, when they cruised to a 4-1 victory.

PSV take on PAOK Saloniki in Greece in a friendly on Saturday night. The game at the Toumba Stadium in Thessalonica kicks off at 20:00 local time. The squad returns to Eindhoven on Monday. PSV met their Greek opponents twice before in European competitions. They earned a double victory (3-0 and 0-1) over PAOK in 2000, when they reached the fourth round of the UEFA Cup tournament. One year later, PSV slipped to a 3-2 defeat in the first leg, but cancelled out the deficit in the return leg in Eindhoven, when they cruised to a 4-1 victory.


Mark van Bommel made an appearance for PSV against PAOK Saloniki.
The Portuguese coach Fernando Santos, who was head coach at Benfica, Sporting, FC Porto and AEK Athens before he took charge at PAOK, is likely to include the Dutch midfielder Ruud Knol and the Australian Glen Salmon in his starting line-up. Knol spent seven seasons with Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse. He made 106 Eredivisie appearances and scored eight goals. Glen Salmon had spells in Holland with, among other clubs, NAC Breda and FC Groningen. He made a move to PAOK from NAC Breda last season. PSV captain Timmy Simons, Ismail Aissati, Danny Koevermans, Danko Lazovic and Dirk Marcellis, and youngsters Rens van Eijden and Género Zeefuik, among other players, will make the trip to Greece.

Sef Vergoossen’s team were reduced to ten men when Cássio Ramos was sent off for a professional foul fifteen minutes from time. The PAOK fans were to run unto the pitch at the final whistle. Only fifteen PSV players had made the trip to Greece. Keeper Bas Roorda, the defenders Fagner, Eric Addo, Dirk Marcellis and Mike Zonneveld were handed starts, along with midfielder Ismail Aissati. After a tentative opening, PSV gradually took control against their opponents from Thessalonica who fielded mainly fringe players in the first half. Otman Bakkal and Balázs Dzsudzsák tried their luck from long distance, while Danko Lazovic got the greatest opportunity to scoring the opening goal. However, the PAOK keeper denied Serb striker twice in as many minutes. Former Vitesse player Ruud Knol played the first forty-five minutes for PAOK. PAOK Saloniki made several changes at half time. The Greek side, who missed out on the play offs, played their last game of the season on 20 April. PSV, who had also made a number of changes, took the lead after 68 minutes. Género Zeefuik, who had been brought on for Danny Koevermans a minute before, headed home Dzsudzsák’s inch-perfect cross at the far post: 0-1. It turned out to be a short-lived lead, though, as the referee pointed to the spot when Cássio Ramos had committed a professional foul. The Brazilian stopper was sent off and Roorda came off the bench to replace him. Lazaros Hristodoulopoulos, who is being linked with a move to FC Porto, had his spot kick saved by Roorda, but he ball rebounded to the striker for a simple tap in to make it 1-1. PSV, reduced to ten men, were made to defend deeply and ten minutes from time the hosts wrapped up victory. Midfielder Vasilis Lakis evaded his marker Rens van Eijden before coolly finishing in style past the advancing keeper; 2-1. As soon as the final whistle had gone, Greek fans ran unto the pitch. Most PSV players managed to get to the dressing room in time, but defender Van Eijden was surrounded by jubilant Greeks. PSV will return to Eindhoven on Monday.
